Welcome...
to the commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of the St. Lawrence Seaway!
Between 1954 and 1958, the St. Lawrence River was dredged and flooded
to enable ocean-going vessels to travel from Quebec to the Great Lakes.
2008 marks the 50th anniversary of the flooding of the Seaway
and creation of Lake St. Lawrence. Here you will find the history
of the Seaway Project and a schedule of 2008-2009 events commemorating
the 50th anniversary.
